Deanna Lemas Fenton is CEO of Compass Strategies, an online marketing company with a single minded goal of guiding entrepreneurs to online marketing success. With expertise in technology, marketing and corporate training, Deanna is that most rare breed of online marketing professional. Not only does she understand the technologies and strategies that drive online marketing, but she communicates them in a way that is easily understood, with no “geek-speak”. Deanna considers herself a marketer first and a technology person, second, and her passion is working with entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations to help them build successful businesses in the sometimes confusing world of the web.

Deanna is not new to entrepreneurship. In addition to Compass Strategies, she has created two other successful businesses. Her entrepreneurial experience gives her particular insight in serving the needs of fellow entrepreneurs and small business owners.

“My clients are smart, successful people who are fully focused on delivering their products and services to their own customers and constituents. Many of them don’t have time to put their thoughts down on paper as to what they want their web site to look like, much less define an online marketing strategy,” she says. “They don’t have an ‘IT guy’ or a marketing department. Because I know their challenges so intimately, we’re able to have clear concise communication, one business owner to another, without the confusing ‘geek speak’ that turns off so many potential customers to Internet marketing opportunities.”

Deanna has a B. A. in Management from St. Mary’s College, California. She is a member of eWomen Network, Women in Networking and is a highly regarded national speaker and trainer. She lives in El Dorado Hills, CA with her husband, Bob and her three cats, Fred, Lucy and LuLu. She works with a number of nonprofit organizations and is a volunteer at the Fat Kitty City Sanctuary in El Dorado Hills.


Deanna is ably assisted by her COC (Chief Office Cat), LuLu, a rescued kitten from one of our clients, Fat Kitty City.org. LuLu’s duties include rooting in the wastebasket for things to play with, supervising the printer and fax machine, and drinking out of Deanna’s water glass.
